Dr John-Paul Darby's Relaxation Sequences
The relaxed state of mind allows the deeper or higher part of our mind (our "subconscious mind") to be very receptive to new ideas. It is in this relaxed state that we are able to learn and incorporate new ideas and new positive ways of thinking, feeling or being.
Relaxation training helps teach (or remind) us how to achieve this relaxed state.
With repetition, the relaxation part of our nervous system (the parasympathetic nervous system) improves it's ability to "switch on" and help us to relax, when it is appropriate and useful for us to do so.
Relaxation training is extremely useful for helping people who are suffering from stress, anxiety or depression.
It is also a very useful tool that is often used with medical hypnosis.
Feel free to play or download some of the following Relaxation Sequences
(on your computer / ipod / MP3 player / iphone /Android phone etc)
Aim to play them once a day for 3 weeks
Please Do Not Play While Driving a Vehicle , or Operating Machinery.
Track 1: Introduction To Relaxation (2 min)
Track 2: Progressive Muscle Relaxation (13 minutes) - play once daily for 3 weeks
Track 3: Mental Relaxation (21 minutes) - this is a longer progressive muscle relaxation sequence with some guided visualisation. Try this relaxation after you become familiar with Track 2
Track 4: Progressive Muscle Relaxation - Before Sleeping (13min) - this is the same as Track 2, except there is no wake up sequence at the end. This helps allow you to continue to drift off into a peaceful, relaxed, deep sleep!
