Another work/play GP locum on Flinder's Island!.... I went for a walk this evening at "trousers point".... to find the place where Mum and Dad also went for a walk while on their honeymoon in 1968 (.....while both wearing their funky 60's trousers..... check out the 3rd photo!) Am pretty sure I found it!..... It's a totally beautiful place, looking out over the beach to the Strzelecki Peaks, and also amazing to see what 44 years of wave erosion can do to some of the rocks!!

Ok....so here's some shots from the epic ski season so far, in the Mt Hotham backcountry area. Photos are of Mike, Morry, JP, Murf, Matty F, Charlie .....and include Mt St Bernard, The Twins, Machinery Spur, Mt Loch, Mt Blowhard, Mt Higginbotham, Bon Accord Hill and The Big Dipper on The Razorback...... I'm sure there's more to come!! yewwww!! Check out my new holiday rental accommodation on King Island, Tasmania. Website link is at top of this page, under "links". Come and enjoy the sunny, protected views right on the beachfront at Naracoopa .....With ocean views from the front deck and lounge room out to Bass Strait, you can watch the cray boats, the migrating whales, or simply watch the world pass by! The protected, secluded coves of Sea Elephant Bay are just across the road, where you can enjoy snorkelling, fishing, beach walking up to Fraser Beach (safe for swimming) or even a longer walk up to The Blowhole. Great fishing down at the Naracoopa jetty. Have a drink 3 doors down at Baudins, lunch at Bert's cafe, or dinner down the road at The Rocky Glen, where you can sample some of King Island's famous local produce Here's some of the best shots from an amazing day Heli-skiing 100km inside the Arctic Circle in Northern Sweden (Abisko Alps and Kåtotjokka region) JP, Borsch, Karin, Michael and Patrick (Irish ring-in!) had the best day of the heli-season according to guide Carl and chopper pilot Stig (ex-Norweigen military pilot). We managed 7,500 vertical metres over 11 runs in perfect powder and blue skies!! Totally un-believable! Mike, Morry, Hans and JP venture across Europe's most coveted ski tour, The High Route. A backcountry pilgrimage high level crossing of The Alps from Chamonix in France across to Zermatt in Switzerland. Under the guidance of Luc Berthelot, we all but completed the 180km journey, often staying above 2-3000m, and climbing up to 3800m. Breathtaking scenery, fantastic powder skiing, some very steep (and a tad scary) icy climbs, equally steep abseiling descents and a few close calls with crevasses!! Finally, after 6 days, and in view of the Matterhorn, unfavourable weather conditions prevented us from completing our final day.....until next time!! |
